There are flights from Glasgow Airport to Islay Airport. (British
Airways Main Office Tel. +44(0)345 222111, Islay Office:
+44(0)1496 302022). The flight takes about thirty minutes and
the journey then continues by hirecar or bus and short ferry
crossing (see below) to Jura.
By Ferry
There is a ferry
from Kennacraig (West Loch Tarbert) to Port Askaig or Port Ellen
on Islay. For more information contact Caledonian

302209 or visit the CalMac web site. The journey takes just
over two hours. Car space on this ferry must be booked in advance;
alternatively cars may be left at Kennacraig.
There is a second ferry for the nine minute crossing from Port
Askaig to Feolin on Jura, operated by the ASP Seascot. Port
Askaig, Isle of Islay (Tel: 01496 840681) this is a regular
service running approximately once an hour throughout the day
and there is no need to book unless you wish to cross after
1830 weekdays or 1800 on Sunday. Ferry timetable available here. |
